How can you reduce your myopia

How Can You Reduce Your Myopia ?

How Can You Reduce Your Myopia ? This question is often asked by those who've been living with myopia or started to have it when they visited an eye clinic or an optometrist practice. For those who don't know what myopia is, let’s have a quick introduction on this.  Nearsightedness or another name called myopia is a vision problem in which objects close to you are plainly seen but objects further away are blurry. When light rays bend (refract) wrongly due to the structure of your eye, images focus in front of your retina rather than on your retina.  Physical development of the eye occurs when myopia progresses, increasing the length of the eye (this is termed axial length elongation). As the eye matures, the point of focus moves further…

What does axis in contact lenses mean?

The axis figure on prescription contact lenses is for people who have astigmatism and indicates the required location of cylindrical power on the lens. This determines the angle of vision correction that someone with astigmatism would need, due to the irregular curvature of their eye, which can be described as shaped like a rugby ball. Axis is part of your prescription, and tells an optometrist in which direction they must position any cylindrical power in your lenses that is required for astigmatism. The number shows the orientation or angle (in degrees) from 1 to 180. The number 90 means vertical position, and 180 horizontal. A higher number for the axis does not mean that your prescription is stronger, it simply describes the position of the astigmatism. Meridians of the eye are determined…

Essential Service

According to World Health Organization (WHO), optometrists are defined as a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated and regulated (licensed/registered). Optometrists are primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection/diagnosis and management of disease in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system.
